Dragonfly 1.3
I have painted several versions of this dragonfly and the previous version sold right away at the Aquatica Show at the San Marcos Art Center. So, I chose it for the subject of my Docent Day demo in October.
After setting up my Docent Day sales table, with samples of new work, I set down to begin the demo. It was a very rainy day, so I was uninterrupted for several hours.
Once the rain cleared, friends stopped by to comment and take these photos of me in action.
After allowing the silk to dry completely, I roll it carefully in newsprint and steam it to set the dyes. I prefer to use water soluble resist because it is basically starch paste and washes out of the silk completely, leaving behind a very soft hand.
I am planning to use this version to make an art print.
